Description
Water reeds grass or Kauna Grass in local dialect of Manipur, it is a source of livelihood for many Meitie community women. These grass are largely cultivated in the wetlands of Imphal Valley, in Manipur. This grass is easy to grow and harvest by simply cutting it in the base of the plant and dry under the sun to completely dehydrate the water from the plant. This is then used to make mattresses, baskets, rugs, handbags and various other home decors. This is also smoked under the fire for longer preservation.
